I started writing this song in 2010 when I was living in New York. It was snowing outside in December, and I felt the holiday magic begin to come upon me.

I finished writing it on a trip back to NYC in December of 2012, after I had moved back to Los Angeles.

On that very same trip, I started recording it in a beautiful house in Park Slope on a Steinway, but the trip was so full of things like going to see the Nutcracker and making gingerbread cookies for hours on end, the recording had to finish once I was back in LA later that month.

I didn't have any sound equipment to speak of, so taped quilts to the walls of my office/studio in Venice and used my computer to record everything.

I released this as a single on bandcamp just to my mailing list back in 2012, and decided to pull it back out in 2019.

In The New Barn (my studio in Santa Fe), I futzed around with a few things, re-mixing, adding echo and reverb in places where it hadn't been previously, and re-released the track as a holiday gift.

No matter where I've lived, the magic of the winter holidays has always struck me deeply!
